Research Objective/Purpose:
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of airplane emissions on the environment
and to identify possible solutions to mitigate their effects.
Research Question(s):
How do airplane emissions contribute to climate change, and what is the magnitude of this
contribution?
I selected these four sources based on their relevance to my research topic on the impact
of airplane emissions on the environment. The article by Schäfer and Waitz's article "Air
Transportation and the Environment" provides an overview of the environmental impacts of air
transportation, including airplane emissions, and explores the regulatory measures that have been
implemented to mitigate these impacts. This source is scholarly as it was published in a peer-
reviewed academic journal, Transport Policy. I found this source through a search on the
university library database, and it is related to my topic as it discusses possible solutions to
reduce the negative environmental effects of aviation emissions.
Terrenoire et al. focuses specifically on the contribution of carbon dioxide emissions
from the aviation sector to future climate change, which is valuable information to support my
