The maximum score is 36. Criterion Score Comments A. 2 The author made it clear that the study was about the need for instructional leaders to recognize and support the social-emotional development of every student. SEL stands for social-emotional learning and how it impacts students’ cognitive, behavioral, and ability to acquire information. The author could describe the reason for selecting his topic and supporting it with evidence-based research. B. 3 The author demonstrates the current state of social-emotional leader recognition with supporting research. The writer identifies patterns and student behavior before and after social-emotional implementation. C. 3 Evidence from different research supports the claim that district and campus leaders need to implement social-emotional programs to aid students in developing their social awareness. The author also included analysis from successful schools implementing a social-emotional program like BLA (building level administrator), which supports administrators in learning and implementing. “Many students within primary and secondary school contexts are not experiencing the advocated outcomes for student wellbeing, which include “satisfaction with their life at school, their engagement with learning and their social-emotional behavior(Denston, A.2022)”. D. 3 The author identifies the beginnings of Social-emotional learning in the late 60’s. The need to create programs to support each student's social and emotional awareness has been pursued in recent years. It has been identified that students need support to help students have better social understanding and support to increase their academic achievements. The different studies presented by the author in support of social-emotional programs are backed up by research and proven strategies for improving students' social awareness and increasing their academic achievement. E. 3 The key terms were clearly defined and described within the text; it was easy for the reader to be fluent.
EDUC 871 F. To keep social -emotional awareness, there needs to be consistent training for administrators at the district and campus levels. The author presents different ways to expand and maintain the growth and gain support from federal and state-level agencies to fund SEL programs and training for educational leaders. G. 2 The author uses descriptive and persuasive writing to convey his message and uses supporting evidence to back up his statement. All are tied to a student's social well-being and ability to maintain academic achievement. The author presents studies demonstrating the positive growth in academic achievement when implementing SEL training for campus leaders and programs H. 3 The author supports his statements with research and studies and his recommendations for expanding SEL training for leaders and campus programs to support the social- emotional learning of every student. The studies reveal growth and students' ability to maintain their grades and cope with environmental factors. I. 2 The author's recommendations are supported with evidence and provide different strategies to maintain current SEL programs, expansion, and improvement. Discusses the importance of developing programs that support the well-being of every student. The author’s persuasive language illustrates his push for the continued growth of SEL programs. J. 2 The author supported their recommendations and claims with other researched studies and different strategies to aid students' growth. K. 3 To support his statements, the author used academic journals, and scholarly references with proven results. L. 2 It was a well-written dissertation with flow, essential vocabulary, and highly effective results from different studies. The author could have used graphs and other visual representations to illustrate the success of SEL training. Overall Score: My overall grade for this Dissertation is a B = 30 pts. It is well written, and I am hoping that I will be able to complete a dissertation that is just as well, with the only difference that I will add visual representations like grapsh.
