Part One, Day One: Anglo-Saxon History & The Prologue (lines 1-28)

In Anglo-Saxon times how were the roles of men & women in society
different from the “traditional” roles you know of today from history? Name
at least two things that are different and HOW they are different

Difference when
they grew up is that girls were centered to learn housekeeping skills while boys
learned the skills of their fathers. Although as time went by men and women had
different roles. Men are of course known as the leaders of the society.

In the Prologue there is a verbal conflict between the Friar (a man of the
church) and a Summoner (a man that would capture criminals and bring
them to trial) about the Wife of Bath telling her story.
What can you tell
about roles in society based on the grouping of people there and how they
speak to each other?

The knight committed the crime of rapping a maiden and it's very ironic because
everyone knows such a crime means off with your head. What is the king's reaction to
such an act? The King's reaction was angry and with such petitions to the King the
knight was condemned as dead.

What are the King’s and Queen’s suggested punishments for the Knight?

His punishment for doing so is death; he is to have his head cut off. However, the
King agrees to hand him over to the Queen. The Queen tells the Knight that he
must come up with the answer to this question: What do women most desire? If
