D031 CGM2 Phase 3 Process Used for the Literature Search to Support
the Innovation
In order to find the information that I needed to complete my task I had to conduct a search for the information that I sought. I used the WGU Library exclusively for this task. First, I went to the D031-v3: Advancing Evidence-Based Innovation in Nursing Practice on my course homepage. From there I selected a subtopic - Clinical Practice Experience (CPE) - CGM2. Once inside this topic I chose - How to search the library? Which took me to the “How to search the library video”. I had watched the Course video early on in the course and now I needed to re-watch it as I now think I am developing an understanding of the relevance so re-watching this only strengthened my understanding of the search process. On the WGU Library home screen I typed, Bedsore Prevention. I did not get the response I wanted, and it seemed that most of the information dealt with negative pressure treatments. That would be a Wound Vacuum device. Not what I was looking for. On the second search criteria I chose to incorporate Boolean operators in my search, “AND” and
typing, “Intervention”. On the third search criteria I chose “AND” again and typed, “strategies”. I received 3,175 search results on this search versus the 270,035 search results from my first attempt. From this point it was a matter of browsing the titles and selecting the articles/studies/reports that I felt were appropriate for my subject matter.
