Consider the research article by Valaitis et al. (2017) provided in this topic. The article has all
the major sections of empirical research (abstract, introduction, literature review, methods,
discussion, implications, and recommendations). Without addressing the article's content
specifically,
Class and Professor,
The purpose of a literature review is to conduct timely research and collect relevant
information pertaining to the chosen topic of chose while synthesizing information into a
cohesive summary of what you already know into your field of study. By doing so, this
prepares the researcher to organize their research to develop their argument on the topic. In
addition, literature review identifies what research has been performed and what topics require
further investigation in a particular field of knowledge; determine the context of the problem;
recognize the main methodologies and techniques that have been used in the past and to place
the current research project within the historical, methodological, and theoretical context of a
particular field (Leite et al., 2019). Furthermore, it is important to understand that literature
review may differ depending on the disciplines that the researcher is conducting research on
thus discussion on multiple resources must be discussed individually. The role that literature
review plays in research is to bring general ideas for future research into focus, thereby
clarifying a problem space in scholarly research while researchers develop knowledge on their
topic from the historical aspect that isolates the theory and conceptual framework to develop
their understanding of critical evaluation in their work
[ CITATION Isa22 \l 1033 ]
.
The
literature review section is attempting to achieve the elimination of problem spaces within the
existing body of knowledge with additional resources to bridge the gap between the researcher
and their topic. Furthermore, the literature review section influences empirical research articles
to reveal theories of the papers argument to set limits to clarify and define the concepts
gathered from the research articles. In brief, the empirical research articles provide supporting
evidence to the literature review as the foundation of knowledge to the topic.
