For the graph, interpret what the graph is telling us about happiness and ecological footprint, as described above. The graph is telling us that happiness is related to the ecological footprint, and both the happiness and the ecological footprint both are increasing. The graph shows that both happiness and the ecological footprint are increasing continuously. 1. Estimate and provide a range (minimum to maximum value), with a width no more than 0.2, for where you think the correlation statistic falls and support your decision with an explanation of the data points you see. Note: You are being asked to estimate the correlation statistic, you do not have to calculate the exact value. The range from minimum to maximum value is (1,2.5)(minimum) and (7, 10)(maximum) The graph shows that over time that it has a positive effect on the correlation. The correlation statistics fall between 5 and 7, so (0.7-0.5=0.2) 2. What could affect the size of the correlation statistic? In regard to the actual data points (hint: what are we assuming about the data?)In regard to how the variables were measured (i.e., what information is used to define them, as well as other potential information not considered?) We can assume that the data points are almost equal, that each ecological footprint has the same amount of happiness. The variables that measured happiness were based on the well being of the people in the country, while the ecological footprint measured resources such as gas or electricity that was utilized but did not consider what the peoples financials were like.
