Globalization refers to the growing independence of the world’s culture, economy and population brought on by the floe of goods and services, people, and information across nations [ CITATION Kol21 \l 1033 ]. Cultural diffusion is the spread of various characteristics of cultures such as ethnicities, religions, nationalities, and traditions. There are multiple types of cultural diffusion such as relocation diffusion and expansion diffusion. Expansions diffusion is the propagation of an idea through a large group where those influenced continuously grow larger. Relocation diffusion is the movement of people from their original region to a different one carrying with them their innovations, culture, and influence[ CITATION Gel21 \l 1033 ]. An example of this is the Columbian Exchange, which was one of the earliest exchanges of goods, such as animals and plants, mostly between America and Europe in the 15 th and 16 th century. Many of the animal exchanges were one sided and came from Europe, these included horses, pigs, cattle, sheep and may other species that will adapt to the Americans. Moreover, crops and plants were more evenly distributed, the Americas exported corn, potatoes, cassava, sweet potatoes, and tobacco, whereas the Europeans brought tomatoes, peanuts, pumpkins, squash, pineapple, and peppers [CITATION McN22 \l 1033 ]. In Florida, the Key Lime Pie is considered a traditional dessert and it has been the official Florida pie since 2006. The Key Lime Pie can be considered an expression of globalization since each of the ingredients have various origins and the dish itself has an international influence and is eaten in many countries. sugar, condensed milk, butter, and whipped cream, these can be classified into wheat, lime, chicken, sugarcane, and cattle. Each of these ingredients originate from different parts of the world and were brough to the United States and Florida due to globalization. All ingredients and animals have a center of domestication as shown in Image 1, the Key Lime Pie the wheat comes from the Fertile Crescent, the lime from Mexico, chicken from Southern Asia, sugarcane from New Guinea, and cattle form Europe. All these ingredients were brough to the United States over time, crops such as wheat and sugarcane were brought from Europe and Asia to be planted in new and rich soil; wheat was brought to the United States in the 1770s and was initially planted as a hobby crop [ CITATION Moy \l 1033 ] whereas sugarcane was brough later in the 1940s by Europeans making large profits from these crops [ CITATION Nat \l 1033 ]. Moreover, cattle and lime were brought in the Columbian Exchange, Columbus introduced citrus in Haiti in the late 1490s and it is believed that among various seeds lime seeds were brought [CITATION The1 \l 1033 ], cattle along with other animals were brought in Columbus second trip to the Americas, these were brought with the sole purpose of breeding in the new territory (McTavish et al. 2012). Finally, chickens arrived to the Americas through the Dutch and Portuguese slave trade in the 16 th century, these chickens arrived on Africa and were then brought to the Americas through the Columbian Exchange[ CITATION Kil17 \l 1033 ].
