Week 3 Discussion #2 – The Cost of Natural Resources
Can this crisis be offset by measures taken in developed nations to address the energy-climate crisis?
Why or why not?
The demand for energy in China increased after the pandemic and everybody was trying to recover from
that. Because of this, the price for energy is also increasing in countries like Asia and Europe. China has
become the world’s biggest emitter because China was the reason for the world’s green house gases (1).
I do believe that if measures is taken in China that the energy-climate crisis could be offset because it has
set out to improve its climate adaption by protecting the wetlands and making sure the grasslands and
forests are continuing to grow.
What potential strategies could be used to reduce the demand for energy in industrialized economies
with large populations?
Strategies that can help reduce the demand for energy in industrialized economies with large
populations is studying and identifying the sources of energy consumption. Another strategy is changing
the transportation of people. There should be more promotion of riding bikes, walking, sharing rides,
and investing in electric vehicles. There can also be policies put into place for taxes and encourage saving
of energy.
