One line per measurement, carefully check that you use the format provided in the example. It can be the same file for everyone in your group. [4 marks] 2. Field data report (your individual report) as one PDF file that includes: o Context: Goal, aim, and objectives of measurements. [1 mark] o Location : Map, general information, plot descriptions with relevant field photos (key characteristics are efficiently illustrated). [3 marks] o Observations : Illustrated as needed and explaining the sampling, measurement, observation of plot characteristics, and data processing into the final csv file. [4 marks] o Descriptive statistics : Sample mean, standard deviation, minimum, maximum, range for each of your three sets of plot observations. [3 marks] o Confidence interval (95%): For the plot (population) mean based on your three sets of plot observations (samples). [2 marks]
o Traceability : Field forms and notes are imaged so that your original recorded values can be seen. [2 marks] o Format: It actually is a PDF file and it contains your name, date, course, etc. The language is appropriate, as concise as possible while providing all relevant detail.[1 mark] Grading: This assignment is graded out of 25, with up to 20 marks assigned as listed above in square brackets and up to 5 additional marks for outstanding quality in one or several of these categories and overall delivery. Methods: The statistical methods you will need are computing sample mean and standard deviation (Chapter 2 of Dadson 2017), and the 95% confidence interval for the population mean using the t-distribution (Chapter 4 of Dadson 2017). Dadson, Simon (2017) Statistical Analysis of Geographical Data: An Introduction. 1st ed. Hoboken: Wiley-Blackwell [ online book ]. File format: Here is the template for the comma-separated value (csv) file showing the formatting conventions to be used, including ISO 8601 for the date. Note how the comma-separated value format is simple but still interpreted in many differing ways. If you double click your file, it should open in Excel. Use a file name that is telling, such as final-data_group1.csv.
