Do Now (3 minutes): How is weather data shown on weather maps?
Student Activity: Students will view video and answer all questions presented
Guided Notes
1) A fully shaded circle means the greatest chance of precipitation/rain
2) An empty circle means clear skies
3) The temperature is to the left of the circle
4). A whole feather means 10 knots and a half feather means 5 knots
5) Precipitation is to the lower right of the circle
6) The barometric pressure is to the higher right of the circle
7) This symbol represents Thunderstorm:
8) When the temperature and Dewpoint are close together, it means there will be rain.
9) Visibility is to the left of the circle between temperature and dewpoint.
10) An Anemometer is used to measure wind speed.
11) Freezing rain is represented by this symbol:
12) Wind vane is used to measure the direction of the wind.
