Lab 2
Introduction:
With using the data from the (2022 American Community Survey 5-year file) I will find the racial
and ethnic character of my neighborhood located in Census Tract 713.04, Queens County, NY.
Methodology:
To start this process, I first need to find my Census tract. I used the (United States Census Bureau) to search for my address to find my Census Tract which I found to be 713.04, Queens County, NY. Next, I went to the data Census part of the website and in advanced search I put in my Census tract 713.04 according with the right state and County. Then I added the filters year 2022 and (American Community survey 5-year estimates data profiles). Then I went to tables and extracted the data to excel, but I then had to get Hispanic or Latino data for my Census Tract, so I typed in b03001 to get that data as well. I then combined the two data sets and set all the values to real numbers. I also cleaned up all the races that had the number 0 in my Census Tract. To finish it off I gave my table the title (Table 1. Selected Demographic Characteristics for Census Tract 713.04, Queens County, NY) and Source: (2022 American Community Survey 5-year file) and added 3 borders on each one.
Results: Results:
After looking at my table I noticed a couple of things. Most of the population in my Census Tract is white with them being over half the population. The White; Black or African American; American Indian and Alaska Native; Some Other Race being the lowest race being only 3 people. In the Hispanic data I found Table 1.
