Module 2 Discussion
Please share whatever you'd like on this week's material. For the possibility of full credit, please note the a reply to a classmate's post is required.
Please also feel free to comment on Vishal Bhalla's presentation so I can provide feedback to him. Thank you.
In this week’s module, I read the article, Delivering Quality Service Through Quality People by Jason A. Wolf, Ph.D., CPXP. In the article, Jason shares his observation of his last visit to St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC). Jason explained that SLMC invited him “to learn from and with
the team at St. Luke’s and engage in a historic event hosted by the organization – The 1st Asian Patient Experience Scientific Meeting”
(Jason A. Wolf, 2023)
. To read about how the SLMC patient experience was improving the healthcare industry in the Philippines and how it laid a large foundation for continuing conversation on patient experience in Asia. I agree with Jason that it is important to remind us to give the patients the best experience and do great things for them and ourselves. Giving the patient the best experience during their visit will make them feel good and comfortable that they would want to keep coming back to get their concerns and questions answered when it comes to their health. I enjoyed Vishal Bhalla’s presentation. He was well-presented and explained patients’ experiences. He also shared his experience with patient experience. During Vishal Bhalla's presentation, I was pleased to know what VUCA was about and what it stands for. I had never heard the word before. The system dynamics of the “Physics” of Improvement, the Work Harder Balancing Loop, and the Work Smarter Balancing Loop are all the same except it lets you know that the Work Harder Balancing Loop is just someone doing more work for themselves when they can do less work when they work smarter. I would want to work smarter than do more work.
I agree with Vishal Bhalla that trust is the key word for a patient to explain to the doctor what is going on with themselves even though they may feel embarrassed about it. To learn that social prescribing is looking into the environment of the patient to know which prescription will help them.
