Abduction of a patient/resident of any age
My degree i am currently going to my purpose for this presentation is school for is my healthcare administration of Healthcare Administration. I currently have no healthcare experience or qualifications due to me never working in a hospital. My purpose of this presentation is to identify the possible root causes for such incidents. By using a cause and effect diagram, i can analyze various factors that contribute to this event and help develop strategies to prevent it from happening in the future. This goal is to promote patient/resident safety and ensure that appropriate measures are in place to protect individuals under care.
History of Abduction of a patient/resident of any age
The abduction of a patient/resident event refers to removal or taking away of an individual from a facility. While specific statistics on the occurrence of patient/resident abductions across the country are not readily available, it is recognized as a serious safety concern within the healthcare industry. Such events result in various types of harm to patients/residents. These may include physical harm, emotional distress, compromised medical care, and potential exposure to dangerous environments or individual outside the healthcare facility. Patients/residents who neglect, abuse, or even risk their lives due to the absence or necessary medical treatment or supervision. During a patient/resident abduction event, several types of harm can range from injuries sustained during the abduction itself to potential harm due to lack of access to necessary medical treatments and care. Emotional trauma is another consequences, as victims may experience fear, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Patient/residents may also lose trust in healthcare providers due to the breach of safety and security.
