Journal Entry 8 – Week 8 – Stress Reduction Strategies
1)
Reflect on things you noticed about your body/mind while participating in the stress reduction
techniques in this week's module. Will you incorporate any of these interventions in your daily
practices?
This week's module has taught me various stress-reduction techniques and I have also tried
practicing most of them. Trying mindful meditation was a unique experience, I observed that my mind
was more relaxed and focused, and my anxiety levels also reduced. I read somewhere in an article
that mindful meditation reduces anxiety and depression. After trying it for some days I can now
confirm that it does help in reducing anxiety and feels like I've gone through therapy. Another
technique that I've been using is guided mediation. This technique involves focusing on pictures in
one's mind. When I pictured things in my mind, I could feel how my body would respond to it. These
two techniques have helped me in reducing my daily stress, making me feel more relaxed.
2)
Describe your ideal imagery for use in a guided meditation. Explain it by answer the following:
What is the temperature at the scene? Who is there? What colors are present in your scene?
What sounds? What movement is occurring? Elaborate as to why these components of your
image are relaxing to you.
