Josie Rawlins Phase 1 Go React Reflection Summary
I learned many ideas from the activities regarding professional presence and mindfulness
characteristics.
I learned the importance of body language, listening, and empathy.
These
characteristics are essential to produce a healthy work environment and professionally present
myself.
I also learned that just ten minutes of mindfulness per day could significantly impact my
life by giving me perspective, improving my mood, and increasing my happiness.
Professional presence and mindfulness characteristics I included in my LinkedIn were
critical thinking, adaptability, transparency, communication skills, stress management, teamwork,
interdisciplinary collaboration, and leadership.
By practicing transparency in the workplace, I
facilitate open communication and honesty while not hiding my mistakes and having the courage
to be authentic.
By practicing mindfulness characteristics, I allow myself to pause and reset
often, which can benefit everyone by forcing me to take perspective and choose to be optimistic.
I learned that some of the benefits of joining a professional community are learning from
people who have been in my shoes and that can understand what I am experiencing by showing
empathy rather than sympathy.
I realized I could use LinkedIn to find other MSN nurses to
mentor and advise me during my graduate nursing experience.
Using LinkedIn, I can search and
connect with others with similar interests and experiences.
I can also find MSN graduates that
are passionate about particular topics by using hashtags on LinkedIn.
