The hospital wants to continue providing healthcare services to their patients during a pandemic. The goal is to make healthcare accessible by allowing patients to schedule, consult their doctors, and pay their bills using an online mobile application. The Information Systems teams is tasked to deploy MyChart to meet the needs of their patients. External Event Change: Due to a global pandemic, the government mandated social distancing to prevent the spread of the disease. To continue healthcare services, the hospital decided to implement MyChart. This is an application that can be downloaded on mobile phones that allows patients to schedule consultation with their doctors, have a telehealth consultation online, and to ask for prescription refills without having to physically visit the hospital (Sweeney, 2020). Error or Omission in Scope of Product Change: One of the identified problem is that patients cannot share their data easily to providers outside the hospital system. To address this, the implementation of Share everywhere was also deployed. This allows the patient to readily share their health information with their selected providers even if they are from another organization ( Bryant, 2017). Error or Omission in Scope of Project Change: Since the turnaround time for the project is very short, there was not enough time to conduct training for the end users. To address the issue, the IS team published a training video that is mandatory for nurses and providers to watch. The system also sent out an alert to their existing patient with the information and a link to a video to educate the patients about this new application. Also, additional consultant were hired to speed up the completion of ShareEverywhere. Value Added Change: By adding the implementation of ShareEverywhere, physcians can easily share health information even if they have disparate EHR systems. This allows coordinated care and reduces duplication of testing. Risk response Change: To mitigate cybersecurity threats to patient data, patients are required to identify their identity using two-factor authentication.
