DISCUSSION BOARD TEMPLATE COMMON ERRORS THIS TEMPLATE REPRESENTS COMMON ERRORS I HAVE NOTICED IN STUDENTS’ DISCUSSION BOARD POSTS. PLEASE CHECK EACH DISCUSSION BOARD THREAD AND REPLIES AGAINST IT BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR RESPONSE. I WILL HIGHLIGHT THE LINE ITEMS AS FOLLOWS: First Discussion Forum Post: Yellow Second Discussion Forum Post: Green Third and fourth Discussion Forum Posts: Gray PLEASE USE THESE LINE-ITEM COMMENTS TO REFERENCE THE KINDS OF ERRORS YOU ARE MAKING, THEN FIX THESE ERRORS IN SUBSEQUENT POSTS. PLEASE NOTE ALL FEEDBACK IN ALL ITS FORMS. IT WILL ENABLE YOU TO MAXIMIZE THE QUALITY OF YOUR POSTS AND SCORE THE HIGHEST POINTS. PLEASE KEEP THIS TEMPLATE HANDY. I SUGGEST YOU PRINT IT OUT. 😊 DETAILED FEEDBACK WILL BE GIVEN FOR THE FIRST TWO DISCUSSION FORUM POSTS. PLEASE NOTE THE FEEDBACK. SUBSEQUENT FEEDBACK WILL ASK YOU TO NOTE PRIOR FEEDBACK (IF ERRORS ARE NOT FIXED). 😊 Current Feedback_ Sampling of Errors… This: As the Bible states, “ Commit your works to the Lord, And your plans will be established” ( English Standard Version Bible , 2001, Proverbs 16:3). Not This: As the Bible states, “commit your works to the Lord, And your plans will be established ”(English Standard Version Bible, 2001, Proverbs 16:3). If leaders create and share their vision with stakeholders in a collaborative (not – collaborate) way…The biggest difference (not – different) between a mission statement and a vision statement…should include what the school ’s (not – schools) goal is…Vision statements should include what (not – where) a school wants all stakeholders…future goals based on the needs (not – needs) and wants of all stakeholders.  The first school, the inner -city (not - inter city) public school, mission and vision statements (not – statments) aims…a current public education (not – edcuation) setting…connection to lifelong (not - life long) learning…truly when you interpret (not – interpet) the language… This: …they are all geared towards stakeholder achievement.  Each mission statement has strands of commonality in the deeper meaning to its values, goals, and mission. In these examples , each mission statement has different objectives for the various schools and districts that they are seeking to obtain, but one common thread can be found in all statements. That is , they all seek to help
collaboratively prepare students. The vision statement s of all four different schools seem to be closely aligned with each other. The common theme is that all stakeholders want students to be successful and ready to meet their post -secondary goals. It seems the leadership within these four institutions have common ideologies that all focus on preparing students to be lifelong learners and life - ready to reach successful outcomes. Please note the above and below feedback very carefully and fix moving forward…Thank you. 😊 . Overall Comment: Week 2 – Your main post was thoughtfully articulated and strengthened with Claxton and biblical citations. Your peer responses were strengthened with biblical citations. Please further strengthen by including Claxton research citations in each peer post, also. Please check all work with Grammarly, and fix minor glitches before submitting your work. Please install and use Grammarly (or some similar software) to check for glitches before submitting written work. Please see https://www.liberty.edu/informationservices/index.cfm?PID=42773 Thank you. Your word counts were on target. 😊 Kevin, Insightful main post perspective: "As Christian leaders, we must realize that we cannot do anything apart from God. We are destined to fail if we try to make decisions as a leader on our own. Many leaders fail because they feel that they must make all the decisions and that God should not play a role in our decision-making process." Thank you for sharing. 😊 Following is the “Coffee-Cup” version of my vision and mission: “Serving God…Equipping Leaders…Ministering to Others.” Blessings, Dr. Ratcliffe P.S. Please note all feedback on the Discussion Board Template. Please review all feedback and also work on the following highlighted areas . These pointers will help strengthen your posts 😊 . Dear Champion Educator,
I want to share some thoughts with you so that you can excel in your Discussion Posts. I view you as Champion Educators for Christ. I also see you as expert communicators within your field of expertise. As such, I encourage you to communicate professionally and biblically, in a personable manner. Use an economy of verbiage. That is, say the most with the fewest words. Back up statements with research and biblical citations in each post. Remember, readers “hear” better when you follow the expected protocols including APA 7 details. Please also note the following common errors: 1. Post by the due dates (First Sunday – main thread; Second Sunday – two replies). 2. Please note all current and previous feedback very carefully. 3. Aim for scholarly error-free writing. 4. Have someone proofread your work before you submit it for grading. Liberty Online also offers writing help. They will proof your work for free. 5. Please check all work very carefully prior to submissions. 6. Please identify the prompt you are responding to (before you respond). Use a heading. 7. Note the word counts. Main thread = 400-500 words; Replies = 150-250 words. 8. Add your post word count at the bottom of your post. (Do not include the heading or references in word count.) 9. Use “terse-and-pithy” (scholarly) writing. 10. Strengthen each post with Claxton (2019) research citations and other sources. APA 7 11. Strengthen each post with APA 7 biblical citations. (Cite a Bible verse that reinforces each post.) 12. Intentionally use APA 7 citations and references correctly. (See APA 7 attachments previously emailed and https://www.liberty.edu/casas/academic-success-center/apa-guide/ .) 13. Include references (for texts cited or mentioned including the Bible ). 14. Include references ( APA 7 format) at the end of each post. 15. Please single space in Discussion posts. Thank you. (Double-space in all APA papers.) 16. Write in a “ terse-and-pithy ” scholarly manner. That is, say more with fewer words. 17. et al. Citing resources with 3-5 authors in the body of the paper: Use et al. for all citations of all sources with three or more authors in the body of the paper. (APA 7 th , p. 266) 18. Citation of three or more authors. Example: Sergiovanni, Starratt, and Cho (2014)… Sergiovanni et al. (2014)… (See APA. p. 266.) 19. According to Sergiovanni et al., (2014), “This book presents the work of supervision alongside the work of teachers and students as a human work, a moral work, a socially responsive and responsible work, and a transformative work” (p. 14). ( No initials in citation , only in reference.) 20. Include page numbers when quoting directly: According to Sergiovanni et al., (2014), “This book presents the work of supervision alongside the work of teachers and students as a human work, a moral work, a socially responsive and responsible work, and a transformative work” ( p. 14). 21.
