NRSG 2220 Exam 2 Study Guide Summer 2023 Modules 4 & 5 Identify factors that affect safety in a person’s environment Identify patients at risk for falls Identify patients at risk for injury ~note there is a difference between falling and injury. How likely is someone to fall and if they do, how likely are they to be injured? And then consider what the injury could be and who is at risk for a worse injury? People who are confused or weak are certainly at risk for falls but then consider other things like if they’re on blood thinners, that fall could be much worse for someone on a blood thinner. If they fell and hit their head, they’d be at risk for a brain bleed, for example. We don’t expect you to know all of those examples yet but always keep risks in mind! Describe nursing interventions to prevent falls and injury in the healthcare setting Evaluate the effectiveness of safety interventions Describe patient teaching interventions to promote safety and prevent injury in the home Identify factors affecting personal hygiene Assess the condition of the patient's skin, oral cavity, hair, nails Plan, implement and evaluate nursing care related to patient problems involving alterations in and related to hygiene.
