HCM 4012: Case Studies in Healthcare Administration Professor: Dr. Christopher Pratt

Introduction
This is a case study regarding the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC). CBCC is a
blood center that collects blood donations from the community and, afler testing the blood it is returned to the community which made donations
(Wiley , n.d.)
. The CBCC was developed historically when Tom Hassett the group vice president for Carolina Healthcare System, who studies laboratory service realizes that the price of blood was rising. Hassett did some research with local hospitals and gathered twenty-two hospitals that had expressed a desire in establishing
a community blood center
(Wiley , n.d.)
. He was able to get ten Charlotte-area hospitals dedicated to collaborating to establish the community-based blood organization, CBCC. In 2002 CBCC was North Carolina's first community blood center
(Wiley , n.d.)
. Defining the problem to be solved
: Over, the years CBCC struggled to get donors to meet their anticipated goals but finally, Hassen
stepped in and managed to break even however CBCC needs a 40% increase in the number of
collections
(Wiley , n.d.)
. Now that CBCC is doing well, Martin Grable is hired as an experienced executive director but three days after accepting the position, the recruiting manager chooses to resign
(Wiley , n.d.)
. November and December are known for donations to be slow. Grable needs the CBCC to gain more blood drive donors and sponsors.

Collaboration Increase community awareness For the chosen recommendations the stakeholders are
, Tom Hassett, Martin Gable, CBCC, and the community. 2 -3 recommended solutions 1.
First, I recommended Martin Gable the new executive director hire a qualified and experienced recruiting manager ASAP.
2.
Then, I recommend that the marketing strategies (campaign and newspaper ads) that Hassen has utilized in the last year be continued. 3.
My last recommendation is to target the youth and go to the public and private high schools in the community and educate the on the importance of donating blood. Advantages
As the slow season approaches hiring a qualified and experienced market manager is an advantage. A market manager will be able to understand CBCC's vision and facilitate the company in building a stronger brand
(Glassdoor, n.d.)
and potentially meeting their goals. But, because we don’t have a marketing manager at the present moment, and Hassen’s marketing strategies have allowed the company to break even it would be an advantage to keep this in place. Because we need long-term donors targeting the youth can guarantee CBCC lifelong donors. Disadvantages
Hiring a good marketing manager may be a bit of a challenge to find ASAP. The slow season is approaching next month (November-December). If CBCC doesn’t hire a manager and the marketing strategies that were previously used by Hassen are outdated or simply don’t work anymore. Gable can still, target the youth, however, the disadvantage of targeting the youth, the target market requires a bit of experience and the youth audience comes with restrictions
(Chutter,
2022)
Gable may not be aware of it. Alternatives that should be considered in the problem-solving.
CBCC has collaborated and been committed to providing specialized services. CBCC needs a qualified recruiting manager to market to a target audience, bring awareness to the community and improve the community’s access to blood. CBCC is trusting Gable to look find a qualified recruiting manager and increase donations among the youth and continue to serve the community. To get these results the CBCC will implement studies and identify and mark progress toward achieving more donations. Any potential risks associated with the recommendation if it turns out to be wrong

Based on the recommendation that was given, Because CBCC has established new donors prior to this analysis and the slow season is only two months, I don’t see any risk associated with the recommendations that can cause a negative impact on CBCC goals. The final recommendation from the analysis and justify the recommendation indicating. Evaluate the reaction of identified stakeholders to the final recommendation.
Overall, because of the ( external) economic changes and competition, it is my recommendation that CBCC hires a qualified recruiting manager. These changes are inevitable and we cannot change them. But, CBCC’s previous recruiting manager was a participant in helping CBCC break even. In conclusion, evaluating the reaction to my final decision all stakeholders are pleased and on board. Tom Hassett is very pleased with the final recommendations, as they are aligned with his mission, vision, and goal. Martin Gable seems to be excited about the final recommendations and is ready to start looking for a new recruiting manager right away. The CBCC, which is collaborating with the 10 hospitals is excited as well to increase the number of blood donors in the community. References
