About this task
Assessment Task 1: Written questions
You must correctly answer all 19 questions to show that you
understand the knowledge required of this unit.
Assessment Task 2: Case studies
You are to read two case studies and complete the questions for each.
Assessment Task 3: Research project
You are to research two types of disability.
Assessment Task 4: Workplace project
There are two parts to this task:
▪
Part A: You are to interview two people with a disability, as well as
their family/guardian or direct carer to identify the person’s needs
and goals.
▪
Part B: Based on the information gathered from the interview, you
are to develop a plan for each person to help them achieve their
needs and goals.

How to submit your assessments
When you have completed each assessment task you will need to submit it to your assessor.
Instructions about submission can be found at the beginning of each assessment task.

How did society view and treat people with a disability in our history? The disabled people in our society has been cursed, ignored and hidden and they are placed in an institutions.
There have been different changes in our overall population with reverence, the board and treatment of handicap individuals. Consequently, most of the general population remain in the system instead of associations

Explain the difference between the social and medical model of service.
Social model: The social model of disability says that it is caused by the way society is organised rather than by person’s disability.
Medical model: the medical model of disability says that disability is caused by the impairments or differences in their body systems.

The convention on the rights of the person with disabilities is an international human rights treaty of UN intended to protect the rights of people with disabilities. It plays a pivotal responsibility in the improvement of insufficiency rights. It's essential hope to guarantee the rights and pride of challenged person individual. It gets a board course of action of individuals with disabilities and asserts that all individuals with a wide scope of disabilities must value each and every human right and their freedom. Provide an explanation for the following terms.
Self-directed : It is about people being in control of the support they need to live their lives. For example: Planning is based on your expressed goals and disability related support needs.
Person-centred: Person-centred care is a philosophical approach to service development and service delivery that sees services
provided in a way that is respectful of, and responsive to, the preferences, needs and values of people and those who care for
them.
Strengths-based: It is a collaborative process between the person supported by services and those supporting them.
In essence,
to focus on health and well-being is to embrace an asset-based approach where the goal is to promote the positive.
Human rights approach: It is about empowering people to know about and claim their rights making responsible for respecting and fulfilling rights.
