A.
Determine the feasibility of
one
of the proposed service lines in the attached “Service Line Development Case Study” by doing the following:
A1.
Evaluate the demand for the new service line in the market area defined in the case study.
I recommend that we do Orthopedic services. Orthopedic services will be the best section for an expansion. Outpatient joint and spine procedures are expected to increase by 350% which is higher than any other section. We also can expect a 30% increase for inpatient joint and spine procedures and a 46% increase for orthopedic cases in general. Current resources can’t meet the demand, with a new expansion into orthopedic services, we can help cover some of the projected demand gap.
A2.
Analyze how current international healthcare trends could be incorporated into the development of the new service line.
One of the new trends in the international healthcare that could benefit our Orthopedic services is healthcare personalization. Personalized healthcare has become increasingly attractive to consumers globally as they want products and services uniquely tailored for them (Rude 2022)”. Rude also states, “The consumer shift from ‘one-size-fits-all’ in health will be driven by the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases and personalized medicine’s ability to assess, prevent, detect, diagnose, treat, or manage these more efficiently”. This coupled with educational programs targeting accident prevention and health lifestyles will
give us an advantage.
A second trend in the international healthcare that could benefit our orthopedic services is stem cell-based treatments. According to Tae Kyun Kim, “in the Asia-
Pacific region, orthopedic surgeons currently treat cartilage regeneration or tendon, ligament, and fracture healing with stem cell therapy such as adult mesenchymal stem cells (2019). Using stem cell treatment during inpatient joint and spine procedures could reduce the amount of time a patient is admitted. Inpatient procedures tend to be more costly than outpatient procedures and the ability to reduce inpatient procedure total hospital stay will benefit everyone.
A3.
Discuss the existing programs and service lines in the healthcare organization that could serve as complementary components of the new service line.
A4. Analyze the financial and operating data to determine the financial feasibility of instituting the new service line.
A5. Discuss how to target and market to physicians to secure referral services.
B. Create a multimedia presentation (e.g., PowerPoint, Keynote) in which you recommend the next steps to develop and implement the selected service line.
C. Acknowledge sources, using in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized.
