Understanding the Multidisciplinary Nature of Healthcare Walden University DDHA 8003A 11/26/2023 The Healthcare team is made up of highly trained professionals such as Healthcare Administrators, Physicians (including specialists), Nurses, Pharmacists, Optometrists, Dentists,
Laboratory Scientists, etc. These professionals form the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) in a healthcare setting and when synced together for the common objective of patient care results in qualitative care. The course objective is to understand and learn how these professionals can work together to achieve the aim of caring for patients and therefore enhance quality and accessible healthcare delivery. From the instructor, discussion boards and peers this aim has been hugely successfully In week one an issue passionate to me is healthcare inequities especially among minority groups and underserved areas. Therefore, an understanding of the roles of a healthcare administrator week 1& 2), the roles of community health managers/directors (weeks 4 & 5) and the use of telemedicine (week 6) would be useful in addressing this issue by using a multidisciplinary approach. An illustration of the role of community health manager is explained below: A community health program manager is needed for proper coordination of community health programs. A community health program director (manager), therefore, is required to take overall responsibility for the organization’s goals and accomplishments and improves access to care in the community, identifying and filling gaps in care services, and reducing emergency medical care through preventive measures (Public Health Tulane, 2020). Below are some excerpts from StrengthsFinder Assessment results: Connectedness
SHARED THEME DESCRIPTION- People who are especially talented in the Connectedness theme have faith in the links between all things. They believe there are few coincidences and that almost every event has a reason. YOUR PERSONALIZED STRENGTHS INSIGHTS- What makes you stand out? By nature, you continually seek wisdom from people with whom you have intelligent conversations. You not only listen but also share your thoughts. In the process, you are likely to move beyond concrete facts. Your curiosity draws you to speculate — that is, reflect or wonder — about theories, ideas, or concepts. Harmony SHARED THEME DESCRIPTION- People who are especially talented in the Harmony theme look for consensus. They don’t enjoy conflict; rather, they seek areas of agreement. YOUR PERSONALIZED STRENGTHS INSIGHTS- What makes you stand out? Chances are good that you may describe yourself as practical or realistic. Perhaps you labor earnestly to find specialists who might help you figure out the right responses to questions. The utilization of the qualities shown in both connectiveness, and the harmony parts of the strength finder will help make a great healthcare leader and administrator. It will be justified to conclude therefore, that the contents of the course are a preparatory step to being a healthcare leader. References
