Case Study on Hospital El Pilar
1.
Hospital El Pilar is a private state of the art hospital that has been providing essential patient care in Guatemala City, Guatemala. It has become one of the best hospitals in the country due to its commitment to three focus areas: Challenge, Solution, and Results. 2.
Although the Hospital is among the best in the country, it still faced challenges that affected
management and no clear vision for the hospital. Those problems were Unclear Priorities, lack of vision, minor interactions with users, and unexpected demands. These problems were considered, and three main focuses were drawn to face future problems. The three steps were made to make aware of the problem, solve it, and see the outcome. 3.
The initial efforts that should be taken at the beginning of the project should be to assess the problems, find ways to correct the problems, review changes made, and observe the outcome. It would also be beneficial to set up small tasks, timeline, backup plan, budget, client requirements, and review with stakeholders.
4.
To identify a project budget, cost, and resource utilization, you will need to review financial records, project plans, timesheets, expense reports, and other relevant documentation. This is where the Analogous Estimation technique comes into play. It uses historical data from past projects to estimate the current project. It will configure past data and find the differences with the current data to estimate the effort, time, or cost for the current project. In this instance Hospital El Pilar project manager could coordinate with other successful hospitals in the region to see what their system was to build a successful hospital
in Guatemala. 5.

I would start by listing the project requirements/activities and breaking down everything
into smaller tasks in a project. What I would suggest after that is to identify and determine the order of importance of each task. It would also help to estimate or establish a timeline/duration for each task. Understanding everyone’s task and timeline helps guide everyone to complete a successful project. The Project Manager should continuously monitor and control the project.
Take account of stakeholders expectations,
highlight the importance of communication, asses risks, and take into account feedback. 7.
There are a significant number of factors that can be a risk in a project planning process. To begin with the major ones would be unclear objectives, unrealistic timelines, insufficient resources, unmonitored project scope, lack of stakeholder involvement, and poor communication. These are just some of the more common risks, risks can happen at any time and come from anything, that is why it is important to identify and asses risks beforehand to be better prepared when it happens.
8.
A contingency plan is a preplanned action plan that is designed to be implemented in the event of an unforeseen or disruptive situation. It is a well thought out plan that is to mitigate the impact of unexpected events for this example it would be low quantities of medicine or lack of transportation and backups would be to use a different medicine and other methods of transportation. 9.
The techniques that can be used in planning and controlling the quality of the project are many, but I would use these techniques. To begin with I would use quality planning, it defines quality objectives, highlights the necessary resources, determines the quality of the
criteria. By using this it will set a clear expectations and guidelines for a quality project. Quality assurance technique will conduct and be a guideline for inspections, performing reviews, and implementing quality control checklists. By always monitoring the project progress and making parodically adjustments, it can help address risks and setbacks constantly and assure quality issues are considered quickly. Bottom-up estimation technique is used by breaking down the project into smaller tasks and then it is individually examined to figure out an estimation for each task. Once those steps are done, everything gets added up to get the total cost of the project. Not only does it find the total cost, but it also helps highlighting quality aspects of the project and since it breaks down tasks into smaller tasks it will help to see where the quality of each task is at. 10.
For This Work breakdown structure, I would be using Hospital El Pilar as an example. Hospital El Pilar Initiation
