Compare physical and health disabilities. Describe a child with either a physical or a health
disability who does not need special education support.

A physical disability is a severe orthopedic impairment while a health disability refers to
limited strength, vitality, or alertness that is due to chronic acute health problems. Both
can affect a child
’
s educational performance.

However, special education is not required for all children. For instance, a child with
diabetes is considered to have a health disability but yet not require special education
support.

List and explain three reasons why the prevalence of each condition of physical and health
disabilities that result in a need for special education is not known. Describe a solution to
rectify the situation and explain the reason for your proposal.

The reasons why not certain on the prevalence of each condition getting special education
in schools are because, no national or state-based will registries are kept for specific
health or physical conditions that will require special education services, many health and
physical conditions do not result in the need for that special education services because it
won't affect their education because some individuals have multiple conditions they could
be reported in other special education categories.
