HIS 100 Module One Activity Template: Project Topic Exploration
You must pick a topic from the Research Topics Lists in the Library Research Guide. While it is a good idea
to choose your topic early, you may change it until the next module. Replace the bracketed text below
with your responses. Support your responses with specific details and examples.
Identify the topic you chose to explore:
I am choosing the Stonewall Rebellion under Inequality and Human Rights
Explain what you already know about the chosen topic based on your personal history or experiences.
I have never actually heard of this event, however since my daughter is transgender and part of
the LGBTQ+ community I have been trying to investigate that history.
Describe the beliefs, assumptions, and values you have related to the topic you chose.
Having a family member in the LGBTQ+ community makes this more personal to me. I also want
to learn more about history so maybe I can help my daughter with her struggles against any
hatred or bigotry toward this community. By learning more about the history of this maybe I can
help her with some insight on how to handle any situations she may run into in the future.
Explain why this topic is relevant to current events or to modern society.
Recently society has been standing up more against hatred and bigotry. The events during the
pandemic with police violence against the black community and other dealings with hatred have
caused us to need to look back more at our history to understand how to move forward in a
more peaceful and loving way.
