Slave Ships Grid - 15 % Submit anytime up until Friday (week 4) by 11:59 PM. In this assignment, you will be working with primary sources as evidence for understanding the history of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. The goal is for you to gain solid grasp on the Middle Passage experience by conducting a comparative analysis of particular documented slaving expeditions from West Africa, and across the Americas and Europe. What to do:
Visit the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database website: http://www.slavevoyages.org/
Select Trans-Atlantic from the top right menu
From the secondary menu, select “Database”
From the lists of vessels populated on the page, choose any 6 voyages to read more closely o
You can use any method to determine which 6 records to work with. For instance,
you can make your selection according to a place of origin, according to a particular year(s), or even place of landing.
Based on the six voyages you selected, presented and compare them on the grid below.
At the end, consider the summary statistics, tables, and data visualizations (also available
on the same Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database page, in the options across the top).
Write a paragraph reflection that synthesizes your observations on the findings from your
own comparative research and your readings of the summaries/tables/data visualizations or any other materials covered in the course this week.
