What are the potential consequences of incorrect coding? (Briefly) Correct coding is essential, while we note it’s not easy to understand it’s important to having the correct codes. The potential consequences of incorrect coding can cause poor patient care such as wrong diagnosis and reimbursement problems when looking at the bills. It’s important to know the factor that within coding errors they can lead to fraud and abuse fines which takes an
2 even lengthier costly time to prove as fraud. All of these consequences of incorrect coding ultimate fall upon and impact healthcare provider’s revenues and their compliances they need to maintain. Due to these factors for possible consequences from incorrect coding this bring the important matter of having techniques and plans such as audits, training and peer review to ensure the codes are accurate. PART III – What is your impression of completing the ICD-11 coding from the browser? (Briefly) My first impressions of completing the ICD-11 coding from the browser was actually really easy, at first it seemed like it was going to be an intimidating assignment. Seeing how you can easily search up and see all the various codes to determine which is the one you’re looking for. While this is my first time looking at ICD-11 coding I hope this can help me further understand assignments and future coding that I may see.
