HIS 100 Module Three Activity Template: Revising Questions
Replace the bracketed text below with your responses.
Identify the topic you chose to explore:
Climate Change and Environmental Issues - Chernobyl
Identify a historical perspective that could be applied to your historical event.
The Soviet Union was a terrible governing body at the time and the secrecy and lies they
conducted throughout their reign caused multiple issues within the country. The economy was
bad before the Chernobyl explosion and made it worse after the fact but the people of
Chernobyl and surrounding countries saw what was really going on after the explosion and
finally put an end to the USSR.
Revise your research question based on evidence from your primary and secondary sources.
As dangerous as hazard materials are, why did people ever start to research and examine these
materials? The aftermath was so disastrous and still is to this day. Why didn’t chemists and
scientists have a better grasp on how dangerous this was and have better control?
What was really happening during the times of the USSR? Why weren’t they stopped and
controlled by the outside government? Why were they able to create a nuclear plant to generate
dangerous amounts of energy for personal gain that ended destroying the country and
contaminating the atmosphere and causing havoc upon the people and surrounding areas?
Explain how historical perspective and evidence from sources influenced your finalized research
question.
After digging deeper to find out major reasons behind the creation of the nuclear plant and
understanding how the country was being controlled by the USSR, it became clear that this
accident was done because of this Soviet Union and their greedy and selfish demeanor.
