The Process Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the facilities The Process Technician operates equipment in production systems, monitors equipment, and obtains routine samples of products. The Process Technician also carries out cleaning, maintenance, and minor repair work in the processing units. 2. Select one skill that you think you are good at and describe why you are good at it. The one that catches my eye the most is the safety part of it. Since I'm the safety representative at work in my department. I follow the safety rules and regulations. I monitor everyone at work as well. Make sure I do a safety check before I start and finish work. Put up safety precautions throughout the shop. Provide the proper training as well. 3. Select one skill that you feel you need to improve and indicate what steps you will take to improve. Most likely repairs on machinery maintenance. Since I'm not properly trained on opening machinery equipment. For hydraulic systems, pumps and valves commonly cause issues if not properly maintained. Frustratingly, any number of problems could be causing pump or valve issues. Air or water can leak into systems, and oil can leak out. Valves and pumps also fail due to improper cleaning. In addition, if the pumps themselves aren’t high-quality, you may have to replace them altogether. Be sure to include pumps and valves in your regular cleaning and inspection schedules, and keep in mind that issues may require some troubleshooting before your maintenance crew reaches the problem source. Shift Work Scenarios Background: Company X is an American chemical company in the Gulf Coast area. Management at Company X has issued a memo to all employees that overtime now requires management approval. Management has tightened the budget on overtime and does not approve overtime on all occasions. Furthermore, it is no longer sufficient for the shift foreman to approve overtime. Company X runs eight-hour shifts. Characters: Bob Bob is well respected at Company X and is known as a hard worker. Bob has used up all of his vacation and personal leave for the year. Bob’s wife is pregnant and scheduled to deliver their first child on his upcoming days off. Everyone knows that Bob is very excited about becoming a father for the first time. Bob’s wife calls him before his shift begins and informs him she is going to the hospital because she is experiencing labor pains and she wants Bob to join her at the hospital. Bob must find someone who can cover his shift. How can Bob find coverage for his shift? Who should Bob contact? His supervisor, to get approval. Give them a heads up that they’re expecting any time soon. Brenda Brenda wants to work the shift for Bob but that would require management approval because she would be on overtime. Brenda would be working a double shift to cover for Bob. What are the advantages and/or disadvantages of working overtime? Are there any potential safety risks? Advantage-extra money, building relationships with coworkers to help cover each other when needed. Disadvantage- tired, fatigue, stress James James would not be required to work any overtime to cover the shift for Bob, but James is unwilling to cover Bob’s shift. James is known to be unhelpful and uncooperative with his co-workers and has a reputation as an unproductive worker. What problems might result from this type of behavior? Is James showing the traits of an effective Process Technician? Not being dependable. You never know when you need an emergency, so when the time comes when he needs help, no one is going to help him.
