FINAL PROJECT MILESTONE TWO: PROJECT PLAN
2
Eden Bay Project Plan
Eden Bay is a medium-sized town that has grown exponentially. As the town has grown there has been a greater need for town services such as police, fire, and sanitation. Currently the town’s equipment department maintains 90 vehicles. The budget for vehicle maintenance has greatly risen in last few years so the town has decided to develop a new information system to manage maintenance costs more efficiently, as opposed to outsourcing to private firms. In order to develop this system a project plan will need to be implemented. A project plan identifies all tasks while estimating the cost and completion time for each one. A Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) breaks a project down into a series of tasks. In this project plan we will identify the tasks necessary for the development of the RAVE system. Using
a WBS we will be able to estimate the cost and length of time required to complete this project. The main contributors to this project are myself, the systems analyst, and Dawn the IT Manager. We will also be bringing a developer on board to assist with prototype creation. My role as System Analyst will require me to identify all project tasks, create a schedule and estimate project costs. Dawn will assist with fact-finding, review of the current system, and finalization of
the project. Our developer will handle all task related to prototyping. The first tasks necessary to get the project going require preparation for the presentation to the town council. These task include, review of cost & benefits, send email to Town Council, develop proposal, Print handout copies, develop presentation, rehearsal and the delivery of the presentation to town council. This initial portion of the project is estimated to take 18 days. In order to keep the schedule running smoothly I will be sure to check in with the team regularly, ensure critical tasks are completed on time and make known areas that can use assistance.
