Level Operations: Safe BC is a small company that produces security devices and safes. There are many designs for the safes that the company produces. The demand for their safes has been increased recently and the production facility has been enlarged to accommodate the change. The production manager of the company, Betty Westwood has obtained the following table from the sales and marketing department on the projected weekly demand for each model of their safes: Model Weekly Demand S1 120 S2 102 S7 48 S8 90 S9 25 Using the demand data, Betty wants to prepare a production plan for each day of a week. The production department works five days a week. The engineering department has helped Betty to determine the best sequence foreach cycle to be S7-S8-S9-S1-S2. Note that partially completed safes are not permitted and they must produce finished units in each cycle. Determine the level-mix model sequence for this each day. Study level production in Chapter 14 of the book before analyzing this case. Source: This case is taken from the required textbook for the OPMT 620 course.
