Land Art Goal: This project is meant to challenge or question perceptions of land, environment, time, weather, and use of the space. Think of the space, light, air, temperature, scale, materials, and use of the particular space will affect your work. Also take into consideration basic art and design principles of line, shape, color, contrast, mass, etc. Make sure everything is attached well for safety, and also think safety for both of your sculpture and the viewer’s when using any walk through area. Size will be a consideration; it must be larger than 8” width and length, if it is on the ground and bigger than 8 inches wide or tall if it is suspended or balanced on something. You will be graded on how well you achieve the stated objective, creativity, use of materials, and execution or finished look of the project. Below are several ideas to start you off. You may find your own on Pinterest or Google. For this project, please DOCUMENT YOUR WORK for presentation for grading You can use your own yard or go by a lake (public property) but be careful of your safety and the pubic use of the area and their safety. Do not harm anything or anyone. Do not break anything. Use only what is available , has fallen, or is on the ground. Do not transport materials from a site off that property. Allow the piece to fall apart carefully and eventually. Do not use man made materials in any of the work. View the Andy Goldsworthy video/power point if you have not already done so. 1
