TIM 172Q Project Phase 1
Project Phase 1 Deliverables:
(due on Tuesday 1 February 2022)
Please remember to use a structured problem-solving
process
in all your work.
1.
Please carefully review the following parts of your project proposal based on the
feedback provided in the proposal review meeting (with the instructor and TA): final
concept; FAST diagram; sub-systems; stage representation of
your product’s
supply
chain; network representation of
your product’s
supply chain. Make sure that these
individual parts are properly set up and explained, and related (or linked) to each other.
2.
Develop an appropriate business model for the Supply Chain for your product.
(Suggestions: Review your work in TIM 172B, HW’s 1 and 2 in order to help you get
started on this task. In TIM 172B, Lecture #2, we explained Dell’s supply chain business
model. Also, refer to the Apple SC article on Canvas.) After properly articulating your
supply chain’s business model, you may need to revise your stage and network
representations from the previous step, so that these representations are consistent with
your SC business model.
3.
Develop the overall supply chain strategy for your product, and clearly state how this
strategy was derived.
4.
Create and
implement
a process to
estimate
the first 8 quarters (i.e., years 1 and 2) of
credible
demand data for your product. (This is a hard open-ended project (as opposed
to homework) problem that will need discussion among the members of your team first
to create a process for obtaining this demand data; and then implementing the process to
obtain the data. (Suggestion: In creating a process for
estimating
demand for your
product it might be useful to consider the life-cycle of your product in its intended
market. Which phases of the life-cycle are important for a new product?)
5.
Attempt to perform
demand forecasting
, using the Static Forecasting method (only), for
years 3 and 4 (quarters 9-16), based on the first eight quarters of demand data obtained
in the previous step. Make sure you draw relevant conclusions.
6.
Submit a well-structured Project Phase 1 report, clearly explaining all your work, on
Canvas on Tuesday, 1 February 2022 (2/1/22).
7.
Please sign up for a Phase 1 project review meeting with the instructor or TA, on
Wednesday, 2 February 2022 (2/2/22) or Friday, 4 February 2022 (2/4/22) here.
