Movie Notes Module #2
Answer all of the questions below as you watch the movie. You will need to refer to your textbook, so keep it handy as you watch. Not all of these will be graded, but some will
. Some questions may also appear on the exam. --CH 3--
1.
Rate Po according to the Big 5 Personality Traits shown on page 36. Do the same thing with Tigress. Be prepared to justify your answers. Po has a high degree of openness while Tigress has a high degree of conscientiousness
2.
Compare and contrast Po and Tigress on their self-monitoring behavior. Po is more open to critical feedback from people and he is also more open to learning from people. He self-monitors in this aspect in that he is open to criticism and feedback. Tigress is more reserved and stoic. She is a perfectionist and has a strong internal locus of control. She tries
to self-monitor on her own and in this regard may be less open to feedback than Po
3.
Find an example of someone using a fundamental attribution error in their assessment of Po. Give an example of when YOU have made a fundamental attribution error in your own life (we have all done it) and how you can avoid doing it in the future. Po if often misjudged because of his weight and his goofiness and not being well-intentioned and
disciplined by his nemesis and also by his friends. I tend to look at things clearly and I try not to judge so I don’t think I can think of a moment. But one way of avoiding doing this is by examining ones own self
--CH 4--
4.
Use the ABC model to evaluate how Tigress feels about Po being chosen as the Dragon Warrior.
Tigress initially views Po becoming the Dragon Warrior it is an activating event for her a negative situation. She believes he isn’t deserving of it initially because she perceives him as lazy unfocused and everything she is not. It ultimately results in the way she treats him before she ultimately accepts and realizes that he has a pure heart and is deserving of being a dragon warrior
5.
Find an example of a character suffering from cognitive dissonance. An example of a character suffering from cognitive dissonance is Po there is a belief that to be a dragon warrior one has to have a certain disposition and character everything that Po is not. He is not slim, athletic and he is goofy and eats a lot but he is the dragon Warrior
6.
Do you think Tai Lung is dominated by an internal or external locus of control? Justify your answer. Tai Lung is dominated by an external locus of control which is why he is chasing the Dragon Warrior. He wants the external validation of being the Dragon Warrior but does not have a strong internal locus of control which is seen by his dark nature and character.
--CH 5--
7.
Use Theory X and Theory Y to discuss Po’s needs at the beginning of the movie compared to
later in the movie. Theory x gives importance to supervision which Po needs a lot of on his journey to becoming the
dragon warrior. Alternatively, Theory Y stresses rewards and recognition which documents and highlights Po”s eventual rise to becoming the dragon warrior.
8.
Compare and contrast Tigress and Po using the three manifest needs from Mclelland’s Need
Theory.
