Discussion: Unit 8, Due Tuesday at Noon CT
Unit 8 Discussion - Reflection
Please respond to the following questions based upon these course objectives:
Hello Class,
1.
Analyze methods to convert resources into goods and services.
During this course, we have learned that goods and services were converted from resources like equipment, raw materials, and labor. These goods and services are driven by what the customer may want or need. Factors of production can be defined as inputs needed for creating a good or services. These can include land, labor, and capital. 2.
Examine models of planning, controlling and managing resources for optimum business operations.
The next thing we learned was related to planning, controlling, and managing resources. When constructing the plan, the business will be able to state what their goal and mission will be and plan on the controlling factors to achieve their goal. The
organization will also need to manage resources. Resources can range from staff, cost, and other overseen daily resources. 3.
Develop an overall operations strategy for a business.
During this course, we learned about operations strategy which is the system implemented by the company for long term in order to meet their goals and missions. This would include supply chain, inventory, scheduling and even planning.
4.
Examine theories of effective project management as they apply to various projects.
During this portion of the class, I was very interesting to read more. My employer has decided to go agile years ago but did not have the knowledge in place to be able to explain it to the company and modify the steps to fit every team. Although the
vision of agile is great, the way it was presented to the other employees, it did not seem to apply to certain teams. 5.
Assess the application of project management and planning tools.
When management and using planning tools, the organization is setting themselves up to have a successful project. These tools will assure that resources are in place, steps needed are noted, and even the possible errors or issues are displayed with possible solutions. 6.
Identify framework and structure required to best serve the various stakeholders
During this course we learned about stakeholders. It is important to keep stakeholders happy and notify them of any changes, projects in place, and completion. We will prioritize the work and communicate it so everyone is engaged. 1.
Explain how the material learned in this course, based upon the objectives, will be applicable to the professional application.
This course has given me a new sight on project management. In my experience, we have always been given a project manager that sadly is not knowledgeable on our projects. We have spent many hours trying to catch them up prior to any actual work getting completed. Sadly because things change all the time, we will never be able to stay with the same project manager. Having been able to get all the knowledge from this course, I will be able to step up and take on not only our project
work but the planning and gathering all resources. Reference:
