Charity Geist HRM 360 People Analytics Module 2 Assignment January 20, 2024 1. A manager is being asked about his budget and is concerned that the issue might be related to excessive overtime. Where could you go to get this information? a. The best way to get this information would be to do an audit of payroll for this department for a specific period of time, preferably from the previous fiscal quarter. This will allow the manager to see which employees have received overtime and how much they have received. Being able to see these numbers will allow the manager to quickly determine how much is being spent in this area and if it is higher than it should be. 2. It is time for annual performance reviews, and some of the managers you support have asked to see the previous year’s performance evaluations. What is the best source to find this information? a. This information is accessed best through the HRIS system in each employee’s file. This is where all previous performance appraisals and ratings are kept. As each manager has access to their employee files, they are able to access this information without assistance from the HR department. 3. The marketing manager is considering rehiring a former employee. Where would information on whether John Doe is eligible to be rehired be found?
a. This information is also found in the HRIS. When employees separate employment, their information is stored in the previous employee section. This section records information such as previous department and payrate as well as the employee performance and whether the company has deemed them rehireable or not. 4. You would need two different types of data to determine this. The first would be the status under which each employee was hired, whether they were classified as full-time or part-time. The second would be actual payroll records from the previous year to determine whether the employees are classified correctly. It may be that some employees classified as full-time are actually not full time based on the hours worked. While there may be some who are classified as part-time but have been consistently working full-time hours. In each case, the employee’s classification needs to be changed based on hours worked. 5. As an HR professional, you might be involved in an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) investigation. What type of data would you need to find? a. In this case there are a few types of data that we would need to find. The first would be a breakdown of the sex of each employee – male, female, or nonbinary. We would also need a report that breaks employees down by race and another that determines how many employees we have that are over 40. Other areas that are covered under the EEOC include religion and disability. The difficulty with this
