Wireless security, which includes WI-FI networks, is the defense against unwanted access to or destruction of computers or data. It also involves defending the wireless network against enemies
attempting to compromise the network's confidentiality, integrity, or availability. I gained knowledge of WAP and WEP, two wireless security concepts, after viewing the movie (Dr. Daniel Soper, 2013). WAP, or Wireless Application Protocol, is a network access protocol for mobile devices that was created for micro-browsers. WAP is crucial because it improves wireless
specifications and makes it easier for interactive wireless devices to instantly connect to the internet. The open application environment in which WAP operates allows it to be developed for any type of OS (techopedia, 2019). WAP is preferred by the majority of mobile users because it can transmit electronic information quickly. The Open Mobile Alliance, a WAP forum, offers WAP tool testing and support for all mobile devices. WAP, short for Wired Equivalent Privacy, is the other security concept. It is a protocol for securing WiFi networks.
With WEP, wireless networks can achieve the same level of security as wired networks, such as those linked by Ethernet cables. The data encryption used by the wired counterpart protocol increases the security of wireless networks (TechTerms, 2019). Since the data is encrypted, if it is intercepted, the intercepting system won't be able to decipher it. However, because all authorized systems on the network employ the same encryption algorithm, they will all be able to
recognize the da
