Question 1: What is a DataSource? Answer: A data source refers to the origin or location from which data is collected or extracted. Question 2: You have created a DataSource for sales data. What do you think is the destination of this data in terms of the Snowflake Schema? Why? Answer: In the context of a snowflake schema, the destination of sales data would likely be the fact table
due to its transactional nature and the need to track sales-related metrics. Sales data is stored in a fact table within a snowflake schema. This is because sales data involves transactions and key metrics like revenue, quantity sold, and profit. A snowflake schema has a fact table that stores transactional or event-based data, while the dimension tables provide context and additional descriptive information. Fact tables hold the numerical or measurable data, while the dimension tables provide additional information.
Question 3: Go to the Data Preview and toggle the Show data in internal format only flag. Comment on the Revenue formats when you toggle. Answer: When I toggle the “Show data in internal format only flag” I noticed a few differences. There are
no commas in the Revenue format, the commas have been removed for multiple columns involving numbers (DISCOUNT, COSTUSD). The Currency changes from the pound symbol to EUR. The SALESDATE format changes from MM/DD/YYYY to YYYYMMDD.
Question 4: What is the Internal format for salesdate? Answer: The internal format for salesdate is YYYYMMDD. For example, 20231201. This conversion from external format to internal format of SAP BW system is done through RSDAT.

Question 8: What is the Unit of Measure of Sales Quantity? Answer: ST
Question 9: Are any Characteristics mapped to the DataSource fields yet? Why? Why not? Answer: No, because we are in Extraction phase, not Transformation phase yet.
Question 10: How many sales transactions do you have for the US? How many for DE? Answer: US: 18,330, DE: 18,517 if we are looking at the order number, as sales transactions are grouped in one order within the CSV file.
Question 11: Insert a screenshot of the data preview from your US DataSource.
