3.
What is the name of the lab in NetLab you completed?
Name of the Lab
:
Working with Android
Provide about 100-150 words as an answer for each question.
Make sure to explain specific
terminology from the lab and what protocols or configurations should be used to be more secure.
Each question
’

each).
4.
Provide one screenshot from the lab. Explain with specific details how this
screenshot captures the purpose of the lab. Make sure you reference the
information in the screenshot specifically (may want to circle or highlight relevant
information in it).
In the screenshot shared, we have been assigned a task in this exercise. Our objective is to
navigate through the Android setup process. Our goal is not only to explore the fundamental
security settings of the pre-configured device but also to modify numerous settings. These
modifications include changing the PIN number, specifying the authentication method
required, setting time limits for device usage when the screen is active, adding text in case
the device is lost, and disabling certain tracking features. Additionally, we will be adjusting
the default privacy and security settings within Google Chrome.

What did you learn in completing the lab? If you don't feel you learned anything,
explain how it would be useful to someone who hasn't done something similar. Make
sure to provide specifics examples (i.e. if providing a Linux command, make sure to
provide the command and explain what the command does).
During the lab, I obtained valuable insights into the Android operating system. I noticed that it
shares several default settings with iOS, but there are distinct differences in terms of user
interface, personalized ad management, location services, backups, and PIN security.
Understanding these nuances proves beneficial, especially for individuals not well-versed in both
platforms. It equips them with the ability to tailor settings, bolster security, and efficiently
oversee their devices. This newfound knowledge is particularly valuable in the realm of digital
literacy and device management, as it affords a holistic understanding of these widely utilized
mobile operating systems.
6.
What did you have to research to better understand the lab?
Explain what you
researched and what you learned from it (provide specifics such as providing the
Linux command and explanation of what it does).
If you didn’t have to research
anything, research something related to the lab you are interested in and explain
what you learned from it making sure to provide specifics.
After completing the lab, I conducted research to better understand the distinctions between iOS
and Android operating systems in terms of default settings and user experience. My research
revealed that iOS, developed by Apple, prioritizes simplicity and ease of use across a wide range
of devices, making it accessible to users regardless of their technical expertise. In contrast,
Android offers a more diverse approach, providing extensive customization options for users
who prefer to tailor their device settings extensively. For example, iOS simplifies access to
settings like location services and privacy preferences, while Android offers a deeper level of
customization with settings that can be more intricate and sometimes less prominently displayed.
This research underscored the importance of recognizing the design philosophies behind iOS and
Android, with iOS emphasizing user-friendliness and Android offering greater flexibility.
Understanding these differences is crucial for individuals seeking a personalized user experience
that aligns with their preferences and technical knowledge.
