The first tool I chose to discuss is body-
worn cameras. Body-worn cameras promote transparency. It not only protects the law enforcement agent from false allegations but also protects people in the community from police brutality. The video footage can also be used during criminal investigations and audits. (Moriarty, 2017)
Body-worn cameras may make police less likely to use force when it is warranted or necessary. There are also privacy concerns when they are required to be always recording. These concerns
may arise during bathroom breaks or when
the officer is having a private conversation during a lunch break. Body cameras can also fail
and only offer a limited field of vision. Some individuals in the community also see it as an invasion of privacy and
worry about protected information, like medical records, being recorded during an interview. Relevant policies for body cameras include that they
must always be worn when approaching a suspect. They must always be worn when a search warrant is being executed. They must always be recording during an interview.
