Identify and explain the most important analytics discovery for Jennie-O Turkey Store & Hormel Foods Corp.
I believe the most important analytics discovery for Jennie-O Turkey Store & Hormel Foods Corp. was from prescriptive analytics. I believe this because Jennie-O had many trials in the past few years like; the effects of an avian flu outbreak in 2015, that led many growers to overcompensate for their flock losses, creating a market oversupply that depressed prices, as well as the drawn-out investigation into a Salmonella Reading outbreak that sickened more than 350 people in 42 states and resulted in one death found throughout the supply chain.
To overcome these trials Jennie-O Turkey Store & Hormel Foods Corp. had to use prescriptive analytics to look at different actions options and determine the best outcome to proceed. Why does General Mills add new marshmallows to Lucky Charms cereal?
Lucky Charms first appeared on grocery store shelves in 1964 with 4 original marshmallows: pink hearts, orange stars, yellow moons, and green clovers. In 1975 the first additional marshmallow was added a blue diamond, this caused sales to spike 30%. From that time there have been numerous additions to the Lucky Charm marshmallow family as well as many limited time marshmallows. The reason General

chain could be bettered to increase sales, connect with consumers, and identify inventory needs to prevent lost sales. Alloy then used prescriptive analytics to determine the best course of action for Valvoline to maximize its supply chain and increase sales. [Discussion Question] 2, 3, 9 on page 305:

TPS stands for transaction processing system it is used to support the monitoring, collection, storage, and processing of data from the organization’s basic business transactions. In the service industry, this can be used to keep the data of returning customers for quicker and more efficient paying ability and order
service.
Question 3: Describe the relationship between TPS and FAIS.

FAIS supports a particular functional area in the organization by increasing each area's internal efficiency and effectiveness. FAISs often convey information in a variety of reports. TPS and FAIS are related in the fact they both record and keep information for later use.
Question 9: What is the relationship between information silos and enterprise resource planning?

ERP systems adopt a business process view of the overall organization to integrate the planning, management, and use of all of an organizations resources, employing a common software platform and database. Both ERP systems and information silos keep information in one place for usage later on.
