MIS 490 Module 2 Journal Reflection
Data Analytics: Hands-On Presenting Findings
This reflection is somewhat reviewed. For presentations I always understood that I need to know who my audience is and understand what they are wanting to get out of the presentation.
Remembering that a presentation to lateral IT individuals compared to C-Suite executives who will have different approaches and terminology. Finding common ground and building trust to capture and level the knowledge gap. I will need to create something that we can relate to. Using stories or comedy can allow for that relationship to build. Structure to my presentation is needed.
Creating that story. Allow for history but always adding something that the audience can relate to
and bring in their own perception while presenting. Having relatable stories and data. Attempt to create an emotional connection. We need to give the audience a reason to understand the issue or the presentation. When dealing with slides. One message and one slide so a 1:1 ratio for a visual and message. Designing the slide and add the points in. Avoid death by bullet point. Data to ink ratio with data and visualizations. Do not waste ink or data points that are not needed in slides or visualizations.
