Specifically, you will focus on the course outcome for the unit as you reflect on the two areas below. Course Learning Outcome: ( Required ) Review the course outcome for this week and explain in detail how you believe you meet the outcome. What videos, supplemental readings, practice quizzes, or graded activities help you to achieve the unit outcome this week. This unit we learned about malicious software and the types of malicious software. Malicious software, or malware, is any software that is designed to harm, disrupt, or compromise a computer system or network. There are many types of malwares, each with different characteristics and objectives. Some of the most common types of malwares are: Viruses are the best-known type of malware. In a computer virus, the virus attaches itself to an executable code such as a program. When the program is running, it touches many files, each of which is now prone to being infected with the virus. Ransomware: This type of malware encrypts the victim's data and requires a ransom for the decryption key. Ransomware can cause serious damage and loss of data, especially if the victim does not have a backup. Adware: This type of malware displays unwanted or intrusive ads on the user's browser or system. Adware can redirect the user to malicious websites, collect browsing data, or install other malware. Your experiences while participating in all elements of the course this week: ( Required ) The intent of this section is for you to share your thoughts and ideas with regards to share what went well, what may not have gone so well, or any other thoughts you have regarding the week you just completed. To protect yourself from malware, you should follow some basic guidelines. Use reputable antivirus software and keep it updated. Antivirus software can detect and remove malware from your device and prevent future infections. Keep your operating system and other software updated. Avoid opening suspicious attachments or clicking on unknown links. Use strong passwords and passphrases. Be careful when downloading or installing software or apps.
