Writing Assignment #4 Task 1: The lesson I will be focusing on throughout this assignment is lesson 1, Single Entry Point. A single-entry point, in this article, is described as your one stop shop for practically everything. Single entry point in China is most recognized as ecosystems. Like an ecosystem, single entry points combine several different apps and place them within one singular application for ease and convenience. For example, an application most notable in China is WeChat. WeChat integrates social media, payment, and e-commerce services all in a single app. “With approximately 1.24 billion users, WeChat is the largest social media app in China” (Shopify, 2022). Business owners that integrate with WeChat are thriving as they can reach a billion active users at any time while using one platform. “Single entry points have also been achieved by not only implementing ecosystems but also general platforms offering portals for independent brands, and proactive automated product recommendations” (p 87, business article). Task 2: WeChat is the largest social media app in China with 1.24 billion active users (pg. 87, business article). “With 4 components, WeChat acts as a chat interface like WhatsApp, next is WeChat Moments like stories or feeds on Facebook and Instagram, WeChat Wallet , allowing users to pay for services, and WeChat Pay giving users access to link their bank accounts for in-app purchases” (Shopify, 2022). An all-inclusive social network application creates the opportunity for users to use just one app for their daily needs. Business owners can create business accounts, creating an effortless way to reach their consumers. “WeChat users are highly engaged with the app, spending an average of two hours per day on it” (Shopify, 2022). WeChat has been described as a super app because instead of installing several different apps like Facebook messenger, Amazon, Netflix, and PayPal to name a few, WeChat can offer all these in a single app. Users can purchase movie tickets, search local hotels, book flights, and play games. In this
Treadwell 2 way, WeChat becomes like an app store as it tries to keep users connected to its ecosystem (Arjun Kharpal, 2019). Task 3: My nonprofit organization Real Life Ministries of Indianapolis (RLM) would benefit greatly by incorporating an ecosystem like the app WeChat. Creating a one-stop shop to receive messages, updates, and additional information regarding our programs would be essential for our growth. RLM has three programs financial literacy workshops, physical and mental health seminars, and family/couples counseling. Using a structure like WeChat, we could market our programs, create safe havens for conversations, and create opportunities for consumers to register and pay for classes. I would love to incorporate livestreaming of each event in the app so users around the world can participate in the sessions if they are unable to attend in person. I also want to incorporate digital appointments with our specialists should a consumer want to schedule a one-on-one appointment with our experts in the field. Applying this structure would benefit our organization tremendously as this app will keep us organized, allow our employees to prioritize their work rather than answering calls, emails, and other consumer questions, and most importantly it will benefit our consumers as it provides one location for everything they need. With a powerful app like this, we would dedicate a 2–5-year rollout, we understand there would be some hiccups that would need to be addressed, and additionally an IT infrastructure we would need to build to handle the day-to-day activity the app will bring. We would first roll out the app with basic features, information on the programs and how to sign up. We would then implement the social interaction aspect of the app allowing the community to chat and watch videos of the latest events. We would lastly create the opportunity for the community to host virtual calls with experts in the programs they signed up for. I believe this single-entry point that points our community to one application will take my organization to the next level.
