Interview Summaries of Findings
The child does have good language skills for someone of his age, which is two years old. He enjoys using words that describe noise and uses these words when pointing at things that excite him. He can describe colors, and he recognizes words that describe feelings, such as happy or sad. His speech is clear, and there is very little stumbling with sounding out consonants. He does speak very loudly, and his mother has confirmed that he does have a hearing impairment. There appears to be no delay in his language development, and is reaching the normal milestones of a child his age (Speech and Language Developmental Milestones, 2022). His daycare teacher describes him as very sociable and gifted as far as language skills are concerned. According to research by the American Academy of Pediatrics, a child with advanced language skills at this age may be an indicator of later language and cognitive development (Gilkerson et al., 2018).
