HUMAN PHONEME RECOGNITION AND LEXICAL ACCESS
4.
Download the file “missing.wav” from the file folder for Lab 11 on Blackboard. Open the
file in Praat.
Select “Play.” What word do you hear? Did you have any difficulty
understanding the word?
5.
The word in “missing.wav” has a phoneme missing and replaced with a cough.
Play the
file again. Can you identify which phoneme is missing? Do you have any difficulty doing
this?

What cognitive skill allows you to easily identify the word in “missing.wav” despite that
it is missing a phoneme?
