Clinical Field Experience Requirements and Scheduling Part 1: Interview and Observation Before the clinical field experience, I will schedule a meeting with my mentor teacher to discuss language instruction for English Language Learners (ELLs) in the K-3 classroom. The discussion will include the following points: Language Form and Function : How language form (vocabulary, grammar, discourse) and function (purposes for communication) are addressed in the classroom. Verbal and Written Expression : The relationship between verbal and written expression in the classroom. Strategies for Language Support : Strategies implemented to support the various language needs of ELLs. Content Area Instruction for ELLs : Providing ELLs with content area instruction that meets grade level expectations while supporting English language development. Additional Questions : At least two additional questions to further explore language instruction for ELLs. Following the interview, I will observe at least one Grade K-3 classroom with ELLs, focusing on how language forms and functions are integrated into instruction, as well as the language support provided to all students and additional support for ELLs. I will allocate 2-3 hours for this observation.
