Running head: WORLD LANGUAGE FINDINGS OF AI 1 Findings of Artificial Intelligence in World Language Christine Delgado William Paterson University Professor Fancera
Running head: WORLD LANGUAGE FINDINGS OF AI 2 World Language classes is one area in high school that a lot of students seem to struggle. The understanding of why the courses must be taken is a common question that students ask especially those that are already ELL (English Language Learners) and are bilingual. When conducting my research for this week I came across various ways AI can be used in World Language classes. The first article, AI Enabled Foreign Language Immersion was a study on how utilizing AI ad XR together allow students the opportunity to use the language being learner in a international format. This allows the students an opportunity similar to an international foreign language immersion program (like studying overseas). As a future school leader, this is a unique and quality educational experience to improvise which will allow the students to experience the culture more and give them an experience they would not likely experience. The second study, Advancements in AI-driven multilingual comprehension used social robots in the learner’s native language helped with creating a social emotional connection and building trust. Utilizing this in the classroom benefits the students social emotional learning and is important to meet the students needs. This can be beneficial to establish a world language course to help learners practice communicating with someone other than a peer. The third study, AI enabled sign language recognition and VR studied learners that had communication barriers and having difficulty being understood so they found an AI program that translates sign language into 20-word phrases that can be translated into text and audio. This is vital for schools to establish for those with communication barriers to communicate effectively.
