Danone at its core seems to heavily focused on all stakeholders, as its philosophy is “One Planet. One Health” along with “Brining Health through food to as many people as possible.” Danone has what they call the “5 Danone Behaviors.” These are:
1.
Put Danone First: Working as one team globally to help the business thrive.
2.
Lead with People: True leadership only comes from developing others into leaders.
3.
Keep it Simple: Don’t overcomplicate things when looking for solutions.
4.
Be Accountable: Decisions should be timely and based on facts
5.
Walk the Talk: Following through on what we say we will do.
In addition to this, Danone takes pride in its B Corp status. B Corp is an organization of various companies that have receive a minimum score on a high level of social and environmental criteria. While more than 70% of Danone’s business is currently B Corp certified, their goal is to be 100% certified by the year 2025.
My experience with this organization is that these cultures, values, and philosophies are fully embraced by all levels of the organization. Employees are offered a set amount of paid time off for volunteer work and most corporate events have a community service component with a local food pantry, shelter, or ecological organization. On the global scale they host soccer tournaments for children, education for expectant mothers, and access to clean drinking water and nutrition to countries in need. They offer public access to their Code of Business conduct, which discusses expectations of not only employees, but shareholders, business partners, and even competitors. For example, Danone will not participate in anti-competitive activities and will not make corporate political donations. However, Danone was one of the key businesses in helping regulatory agencies make baby formula available last year during the infant formula crisis, including helping competitors get formula
on the shelf. When you see an organization on such a large scale and from a leadership standpoint holding strong to their values, it makes it easier to follow those same values and level of expectations. It creates a
buy in not only for employees, but customers are more willing to spend money there than a competitor, so it brings financial gains as well.
Internally, the organization structure has various checks in balances in place to maintain integrity of its business statements and policies. There are strong internal controls in place, and actually have an entire internal controls department to make sure the other departments are in compliance with both external and internal auditing requirements. Mintz & Morris (2020) put an emphasis on the importance of whistleblowing, and while I have never had an experience in which I would need that, all communication to employees is that those that see something and say something will be protected and supported.

How important are excellent leaders to organizations? If you were to ask the recently-retired 3M CEO George Buckley, he’d say extremely important. But he’d also say that excellent leaders don’t just pop up out of nowhere. A company has to cultivate leaders who have the skills and abilities to help it survive and thrive. And like a successful baseball team with strong performance statistics that has a player development plan in place, 3M has its own farm system. Except its farm system is designed to develop company leaders. 3M’s leadership development program is so effective that it has been one of the “Top 20 Companies for Leadership” in three of the last four years and ranks as one of the top 25 companies for grooming leadership talent according to Hay Consulting Group and Fortune magazine. What is 3M’s leadership program all about? About 10 years ago, the company’s former CEO (Jim McNerney, who is now Boeing’s CEO) and his top team spent 18 months developing a new leadership model…

Leading and managing are two very different things. Being a manager means something more than gaining authority or charge over former colleagues. With the title does come the power to affect company outcomes, but it also comes with something more: the power to shape the careers and personal growth of subordinates.
According to Steve Keating, a senior manager at the Toro Company, it is important not to assume that being made a manager automatically makes you a leader. Rather, being a manager means having the opportunity to lead. Enterprises need managers to guide processes, but the employees—the people—need a leader. Keating believes that leaders need a mindset that emphasizes people, and the leader’s job is to help the people in the organisation to be successful. According to Keating, “If you don’t care for people, you can’t lead them” (Hakim 2017 n.p.).

The power differential and why it matters so much?
from the below statment answer the above question
The power differential is the inherently greater power and influence that helping professionals have as compared to the people they help. Understanding both the value and the many impacts of the power differential is the core of ethical awareness. Written codes for ethical behavior are based on the strong positive and negative impacts of this power differential.
People seeking help are in a position in which they must trust in the knowledge and guidance of their caregiver. This results in a greater-than-ordinary vulnerability. Consequently, people are unusually susceptible to harm and confusion through misuses (either under- or overuse) of power and influence.
EXAMPLES OF POWER INEQUALITY
“The impact of the role, control, and power difference between client and therapist is very strong and also very subtle, and thus demands a strong ethical stance. In brief, your role as the therapist…

There is no such thing as a “one-size-fits-all management theory”. What may work for one organization may not be relevant for another. Therefore, when one theory does not fit a particular situation, it is important to explore the option of developing a new theory that would lead in a new, more applicable direction. While some theories can stand the test of time, other theories may grow to be irrelevant and new theories will develop in their place. EXPLAIN.
