Frame 2
The birth of flight being in the US means that there is a lot of aviation history that ties back to the US. There is also a conglomerate of safety regulations and allowances that make up a
network of rules and adherences, ensuring the pinnacle of modern day aviation safety. Because of this system, however, it is difficult to undo or reform some of the older regulations meaning that changes of this based system are difficult and would require reform in the community. These
are some of the reasons the US may not have adopted MPL or Multi-Crew Pilot License.
Existing Regulatory Framework: The United States has an established pilot training and regulatory system as prescribed by FAA. The adoption of a new licensing framework will mean major changes in the current system that would take a lot of time and effort.
Different Training Philosophy: MPL is a new type of licensing approach which considers competency-based training and the operations with multiple crews simultaneously during the starting point. Alternatively, the FAA could have opted for retaining its traditional training doctrine that involves advancement from a private pilot to a commercial and then a professional pilot etc.
Industry Resistance: Working with airports or aviators in most cases is an integral part of MPL. However, if there is some type of resistance or it could be that not everyone agrees with MPL from major airlines, training organizations etc., then the regulatory authorities might delay or completely consider abandoning MPL.
Resource Allocation: The implementation of the new licensing procedure also demands funds for regulation reforms, creation of new training programs, and certification of educators. There could be limited resources available, and as such, the issues related to MPL can

The safety protocols to follow not to be infected with COVID-19 are known and well explained. Canada has even enacted laws that strictly punish those who do not follow the protocols especially the wearing of masks, social distancing and washing of hands. The major challenge is poor implementation of the laws. People are disobeying the laws, ignoring the protocols and behaving as if the virus and the laws do not exist. Obviously, there is an implementation problem.
Apply the barriers to problem solving to explain why the government is failing with implementing the laws and recommend how each of these barriers can be overcome. Use the following barriers to problem solving that is tradition, competition, lack of effort, complacency, and insecurity to answer the question.
Use the four different corporate cultures to advise government on how citizens can be made to follow the protocols for all to be safe. Use these four corporate cultures to answer the question: bargaining, consultation,…

Jay Sorenson of Portland, Oregon, created a product called the Java Jacket, which is a patented
honeycombed insulating sleeve that slides over a paper cup containing a hot beverage to make it
comfortable to hold. Having introduced the new product to the market, Sorenson has already cut deals
with coffeehouses, specialty stores, and convenience stores nationwide. He started the business with
$15,000 in 1993, but his 2003 sales were projected to be between $12 and 15 million. Sorenson is now
in a position where he would like to continue expanding his business, but he is concerned that large and
established competitors could introduce their own variations of the same product.

When the volcano, Eyjafjallajokull, erupted in April 2010, the plume of volcanic ash that spread across thousands of miles disrupted air travel and global commerce for a number of days. The eruption of the Icelandic volcano, which produced a huge drifting ash, cloud throughout Europe, resulted in flight cancellations that disrupted global commerce. The halting of air travel for several days impacted managers plans for the production and distribution of goods and services and many other scheduled business operations.
As thousands of flights were cancelled across Europe, tens of thousands of air travellers couldn't get to their destinations. For example, Marthin De Beer, vice president of emerging technologies at Cisco Systems, was headed to Oslo to discuss the final aspects of its acquisition of Tandberg, a Norwegian Teleconferencing Company. However, when his flight was cancelled, he and Tandberg’s CEO, Fredrik Halvorsen, used their merged companies’ equipment to hold a virtual press…

The freezing cold spell at the beginning of 2010 not only increased demand for road salt, (see the additional case study for chapter 6) but it increased demand for gas in the UK. Usage reached 454 cubic metres; the previous record was 449m set in January 2003. The National Grid which is responsible for energy in the UK issued several warnings in a matter of days that demand could outstrip supply and asked supplier so increase the supply. The National Grid also told major gas users, such as power plants, to reduce demand.
Big generators, such as E.On, have both gas-fired and coal-fired power stations and are able to choose between the two. In total, 27 large gas users were asked to switch - 12 in the East Midlands and 15 in the North West.
Questions
Analyse two other factors that you think influence demand for gas.
Do you think demand for gas is price elastic or price inelastic? Explain your reasoning.
